In a factory, when holes were drilled down on concrete beams to put the anchor bolts to support vibrating machines, air voids were found. However, the problem is, the location of the air void is unknown. Whether it’s just at drilling locations coincidently or it’s at some other locations as well or it’s distributed over entire beam length. Thus, the aim of the test is to detect the air voids locations concealed inside RC beams. Once void locations have been detected along the beams, reparation will be carried out to enhance concrete durability, beam’s strength as well as to make sure firm support for machines operation.
To conduct the test, several equipment was used including drop hammer, accelerometers, data acquisition system.
