Ground-borne noise and vibration measurement for Bangkok Red line (Bang Sue- Rangsit)
Noise & Vibration (N&V) associated with the movement of commuter trains (CT) and Long distance trains (LD) transmits through viaduct and ballast tracks into the ground and then propagates to the nearby buildings. These ground-borne noise and vibration are perceptible and might affect the human perception level or the structural safety of the nearby buildings. Thus, noise and vibration measurement were conducted for residential housings, temples, hospitals, institutes along the Red line tracks from Bang Sue Grand station to Rangsit. The results are compared with the ground-borne noise and vibration criteria for each particular receiver type meaning that different criteria is applied for residential, temple, hospital, and so on, in which, hospital requires the most critical vibration criteria due to the existence of medical sensitive equipment, which the vibration free is vitally important. At each N&V measurement location, CT train and LD train were operated for both inbound to Bang Sue and outbound to Rangsit several trips from day to night times to capture all maximum possible effects from train movement induced vibration.
